This linoprint shows Firefly, Sundowner, Medway Queen and Lamouette passing
Deal on the way to Dunkirk in 1940, to rescue soldiers from its beaches. The
paddlesteamer Medway Queen saved 7000 men during the evacuation.
All these ‘Little Ships’ survived to return to England, and are still to be seen afloat in
Kent today.
